Get stronger thanks to Vita Sana Mirjam from Vita Sana in Groningen is a personal trainer who I can heartily recommend to everyone. Now add as a review ***** and that review is also ready. Yes, I think that's how most people would post a review on social media. I want to be a bit more elaborate in this case. I had no less than 8 months of weekly supervision from Mirjam and for that reason alone she deserves a review that is longer than 1 sentence (with ***** of course). In April 2018 I thought it was high time to start exercising again. After being inactive for months, I realized I needed to start living a healthier life. And so (not coincidentally) I ended up at Vita Sana, which means Healthy Living in Italian. I felt I could use the help of a strong girl with Italian roots at the time. To my satisfaction, Mirjam responded fairly quickly to my email in which I had asked her if I could make an appointment with her. When the time came, I just didn't feel like it and didn't show up. In her response to my apology via Whatsapp about this, she let me know that I didn't have to worry and that we could just make another appointment. She also advised me not to worry about that. These friendly Whatsapp messages confirmed my idea that she seemed a suitable person to guide me in the gym. The following week, thank God I did manage to show up. We had an intake interview, in which I was given ample opportunity to talk about, among other things, my then gloomy moods. I said that I wanted to be positive in life again and that I thought sports could help with this. She showed that she wanted to give me a helping hand. During the conversation I noticed that she listened well and that she has great empathy. She immediately knew what kind of training would suit me well: the full body workout, training that focuses on the entire body. My training sessions with Mirjam soon started to pay off. Her presence and encouragement had an immediate motivating effect on me. Time and time again I managed to go to my limit during the sessions and sometimes even beyond. Because her training sessions are always varied, I also enjoyed working out. No training is the same at Vita Sana. We were indeed busy with the so-called compound exercises such as the deadlift, squat and bench press, but often as a superset in combination with other types of exercises. In addition, I learned from Mirjam that there are several variants of these three exercises. For example, I had never heard of the Sumo Deadlift, where you stand with your feet wider than shoulder width like a sumo wrestler. A charming exercise! The deadlift, the king of exercises, has eventually become my favorite activity in the gym. I always get a lot of challenge out of this complicated exercise. Good technical control is essential to achieve the maximum effect and to prevent injuries. Fortunately Mirjam was always nearby when teaching this exercise. Thanks to her years of experience in the deadlift, she is the right person for this. My original goal of deadlifting 100kg by the end of the year turned out to be far too modest. I already managed to do this in September and currently my personal best is 120 kg! Mirjam's personal training at Vita Sana has made me a stronger person, both physically and mentally. She is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and has a listening ear. I am therefore convinced that everyone can benefit from coaching by Mirjam. Mirjam, grazie di tutto!
